There is actually another way to do this. If you have a capo and know how to change keys,
play the same notes using a capo on 3 (standard tuning)and play in the key shape of G instead of C

(same fingerings as original chords).
Actual chords are a whole step lower than written.
(e.g. Am is Gbm, F is Db, C is Bb, and G/B is F/A)
Also I usually will have my pinky on the 3rd fret
of the d string for all chords. Makes for a better sound I think.
