Secret Meeting
The National
Text File
The National, Secret Meeting.
The fundamental chord progressions in this song are very basic. But you don't hear
just strumming the chords in the
recording, so I would be foolish to approach this song on my own with an acoustic guitar
expect to replicate what I've heard
on the CD. Make it your own.
The arrangement on the CD appears to be several electric guitar tracks just finger
around pairs of notes so there are often
added notes and suspensions that make the harmony a little more coloured. If you're
it on your own just play the chords. I would
assume that if you were musical enough to be able to arrange it yourself, you wouldn't
looking at this page.

If you want to add a more colourful sense of harmony to the song (though I wouldn't
overusing it with just an acoustic),
instead of playing |D - A - Bm - G
try
|D/A - A - Bm - G/B
These are accurate chords, but it's nigh on impossible to tab because there is so much
on in and it's mixed so lo-fi.
That's why it's great.
