Loved ones - keep your heart - Sickening

I am slightly unsure on the intro/verse. It may well be wrong.
I think he�s constantly hitting the open d string whilst playing the g string part. I
the easiest way to do this was to either constantly pick downwards whilst muting the g
when necessary or only hitting it when necessary, though I have to admit I�m not sure 
this is the best strategy, therefore any help would be much appreciated!

I know the timing isn�t correct but listen and it should become clear
