Website: http://www.thecats.nl/
This Dutch pop group from Volendam, was very popular in The Netherlands, Belgium and
in the 1960's and 1970's. They scored 36 hits in
Holland, including 5 no. 1's.
Their songs were mainly ballads, and this 1970 chart record, was one of them. It was
biggest selling single record, the song was composed
by their bass player Arnold Mhren, who wrote three number one songs.
The distinctive sound they created, was labeled: Paling Sound (Paling is
Dutch for: Eal), because Volendam used to be mainly a fishing community.
