OK, i've seen morello do this tons of times. you need two and only these two things for
solo:
1. crybaby/ wha pedal
2. toggle switch/ dual volume control setup (as seen on an LP)
I'll get to that later
Intro/chorus (for chorus slide up to headstock from low E then play)
Into: use tremolo pedal and distortion
chorus: just distortion then

Ok, how it works is, you are tapping the notes, while flicking the toggle
switch just after tapping the note and pressing down on the wha pedal all
at once. it sounds hard but it's actually really simple. remember tapp the
riff wiht your index and ring finger (and for the 17 in the second half
your pinky)

then you flick the toggle switch like a madman whil holding down the 16 and
slowly pressing down on the wha pedal
then,
+ + + + keep down until you restart
