You Cant Quit Me Baby
Queens Of The Stone Age
Text File
I haven't seen a decent tab for this song yet so I've been messing around
watching videos and piecing this together. The timing is not exact you'll
have to listen to the song to get it down but the basic pattern is to
alternate between the two verse riffs below. In the live version the two
main fills are similar to what I've tabbed but probably not exact, and there
are two additional fills that Josh and Troy use that I haven't tabbed but
are composed of the same notes so you can improvise something and make it
your own.
Played in C-tuning.
Novice difficulty if you leave out the fills and solo.
For a closer to true sound use a fuzz pedal.
Alternate between these two riffs from verse, the fills at the end can be
changed or left out all together (maintain the strumming of that riff in
their place though):
Verse Riff 1:
C|-----------------------------------------|
G|-----------------------------------------|
Eb|--------------------------15s17-17-17----|
Bb|---17-17-17--17-17--17-17----------------|
F|-----------------------------------------|
C|---15-15-15--15-15--15-15----------------|
Verse Riff 2:
C|-----------------------------------------||
G|-----------------------------------------||
Eb|-------------------------------12h14p12--||
Bb|---14-14-14--14-14--14-14-12h14----------||
F|-----------------------------------------||
C|---12-12-12--12-12--12-12----------------||
Then comes this little pre-chorus part where Josh sings "I want you to
notice when I'm not around...", play verse riff 3 once, then play verse riff
4 twice, then return to the verse riffs above.
Verse Riff 3:
C|-----------------------------------------|
G|-----------------------------------------|
Eb|-----------------------------------------|
Bb|---19-19-19--19-19--19-19--19------------|
F|-----------------------------------------|
C|---17-17-17--17-17--17-17--17------------|
Verse Riff 4:
C|-----------------------------------------||
G|-----------------------------------------||
Eb|-----------------------------------------||
Bb|---18-18-18--18-18--18-18--18------------||
F|-----------------------------------------||
C|---16-16-16--16-16--16-16--16------------||
After resuming the verse riffs you eventually end on Verse Riff 2 with no
fill at the end. Play Verse Riff 3 and 4 above twice each, alternating
(3,4,3,4). Then play the small "solo" on guitar one while guitar 2 goes
back to verse riffs 1 and 2:
(Credit to dotstudio's tab for this part)
C|---------------------------------------------------------------12-12---|
G|---14b--------14----14b--------14----14b-------14----14b---------------|
Eb|-------13b--------------13b-------------13b-------------13b------------|
Bb|-----------11b--------------11b-------------11b-------------11---------|
F|-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
C|-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
C|-----------------------------------------------------------------||
G|---14b--------14---14b--------14---14b--------14--14b-14brbrbr---||
Eb|-------13b-------------13b-------------13b-----------------------||
Bb|-----------11b-------------11b-------------11b-------------------||
F|-----------------------------------------------------------------||
C|-----------------------------------------------------------------||
Then comes the chorus there is a slide lead that drowns out the guitar quite
a bit but you'll see the slide is unecessary, once again the timing isn't
perfect just a rough guide. (For those starting out use your ring finger on
the G string, middle finger on the Bb, and bar the other strings lightly
with your index finger to mute them.)
Chorus (7x):
C|-----------------------------------------------------------------|
G|---3--3--3-3--3-3s5--5--5-5--5-5s7--7--7-7--7-7--7--7--7-7--7-7--|
Eb|-----------------------------------------------------------------|
Bb|---3--3--3-3--3-3s5--5--5-5--5-5s7--7--7-7--7-7--7--7--7-7--7-7--|
F|-----------------------------------------------------------------|
C|-----------------------------------------------------------------|
These are the pieces for the most part, in the live version they throw in
improvised solo that starts slow and gets pretty wild towards the end. If
you want something more mild I recommend dotstudio's tab once again. This
song leaves a lot of room for improvision since there are two guitars
playing at all times so have fun with it and just use my tab as a guide.
