Where Do They Go
from the record "Tales of the New West" by The Beat Farmers
written by Jerry Raney
Note: the first line of the lyric is WAY wrong, as I can't make it out.
Chord positioning over lyrics is approximate.
The intro (D) pattern repeats throughout.
Chord notes:
Dsus4 000233 - just add your pinky to the D chord at the 3rd fret
(leave your 3rd finger where it was to keep the D chord intact)
Dsus2 000230 - drop the top string from the D chord
---------------
intro:
D Dsus4 D Dsus2 G A D Dsus4 D Dsus2 G
D Dsus4 D Dsus2 G A D A D Dsus4 D
D G A
Come out and burn rubber, it's out in the streets
D G A
It's Saturday night once again.
D G A
The highway patrol stops at Denny's to eat,
D A D G A D A D
The world's racin' but nobody wins.
D G A
Young girls will try the new fashion tonight,
D G A
Then go the dance at the school.
D G A
And the boys will start drinkin' and get their heads tight
D A D G A D A D
And the flatlanders try to look cool.
G A D
Then the band will start playin' and no one will care,
G A D
Though they request all their favorite songs.
G A D Dsus2 Bm
They just wanna make sure that their friends are all there,
D A D G A D A D
So they can feel like they belong.
Then they go to a friends' house and watch MTV,
Where all the bands look just alike.
And they may even like some of that dumb stuff they see,
Then dress up in leather and spikes.
G A D
But when they go and they start to grow old
G A D
They go home to bed every night
G A D Dsus2 Bm
'Cause when they start workin' they get tired and slow
D A D
Get married and start a new life
Friends move away, never heard of again
Funny how everyone ages
Their face in the yearbook is what's left of them
And the poems that they left on the pages
