Way We Get By

Spoon

Text File

Well no one seems to be getting the chords on this right, so I might as well try to fix things. I've studied a bunch of chord theory, so I think this is just about right. A Fmaj7 We get high in backseats of cars A Fmaj7 We break into mobile homes A Fmaj7 We go to sleep to shake up you A Fmaj7 And then wake up on our own CHORUS Am A/G And that's the way we get by to Fmaj7 Way we get by Am A/G Aw that's, the way we get by to Fmaj7 Way we get by A Fmaj7 We go out in stormy weather A Fmaj7 We rarely practice discern A Fmaj7 We make love to some with sin A Fmaj7 We seek out the taciturn CHORUS A Fmaj7/A And that's the way we get by A Fmaj7/A That's the way we get by A Fmaj7 We found a new kinda dance in a magazine A Fmaj7 Try it on, it's like nothin' you've ever seen A Fmaj7 You sweet talk like a cop, an' you know it A You bought a new bag of pot Fmaj7 So let's make a new start CHORUS Am Fmaj7 And that's the way we get by Am Fmaj7 That's the way we get by PIANO INTERLUDE Am - A/G - Fmaj7 - Am/E Am - A/G - Fmaj7 - Am/E F - Am/E - E7 - E7 F - Am/E - E7 - E7 A Fmaj7 We get high in backseats of cars A Fmaj7 We put faith in our concerns A Fmaj7 Fall in love to down the streak A Fmaj7 We believe in the sum of ourselves Am Am/G And that's the way we get by to Fmaj7 Way we get by Am Am/G Aw that's the way we get by to Fmaj7 Way we get by Am Am/G And that's the way we get by to Fmaj7 Way we get by to Way A Fmaj7 And that's the way we get by A Fmaj7 That's the way we get by I rate this tab as a novice tab because all of these chords should be fairly straightforward. The only chords that might be slightly confusing are Fmaj7 and the chords that have a slash between two letters (i.e. Am/G). A major 7 chord is fairly easy to figure out, you basically take a 7 chord and play the 7th up a half step. And the root chords (Am/G) are about as straightforward as they get. If you're playing guitar, just play the first chord (Am). If you're playing piano, play some form of the first chord in your right hand and some form of the second in your left (octaves and fifths work best). And lastly, if you're playing bass, play the second chord listed (G).
