Lips Of An Angel

Hinder

Text File

Overall, this song emphasizes the guitar and vocals, the bass is there but is difficult to hear at times because of the way the track is mixed. If you have advanced EQ settings then I recommend isolating and boosting the bass in order to hear it better. It's very likely that this tab is not 100% correct. That's not to say it's 100% wrong. All the right root notes are there, and if you just stick to them then this tab will work fine. This tab works best as an outline, showing you what notes are played and roughly where. If you cover this song, work with your guitarist and follow his/her chord changes. Some parts can be played in double time without changing the tempo so experiment with it. Bass starts at 00:37. Verse G ----------------| D ----------------| A 0~--2~-------5~-| E ---------3~-----| G -------------5-| D ---------------| A 0~--2~----2h5--| E --------3------| Chorus part 1 It's really good to hear your voice... G ---------------------------------------| D ----------------5/10-101010-10-5-555-5-| A 5-555-5-0-000-0------------------------| E ---------------------------------------| Comin' from the lips of an angel... G ----------------------------------------| D ----------------10-101010-10------------| A 5-555-5-0-000-0-------------------------| E -----------------------------3-3333333--| *You can palm mute the 3's for some flavor if you think it sounds better. Remember, E3 and D5 are both G, but playing the low G the second time sounds better for the lead in to the chorus. This is an example of adding your own touch, you may want to add a few notes here and there to keep up with your guitarist. Chorus part 2 And I... G -------------------------------| D -------------------------------| A 5-5-5-55h7-0-0-0-0-2--2-2------| E --------------------------2-3~-| The bass is difficult to pick up in the mix during the chorus. If you boost the 125 range on your EQ it's a bit easier to hear and it sounds like he's hitting the notes in synch with the drum beats. You can always try double time here if you can maintain the tempo. Just note the F->G climb at the end is always simply those two notes, you can't miss it in the song. Back to verse It's funny that you're calling me... G -----------------------| D -----------------------| A 0~--2~-------5~--------| X 5 E ---------3~------------| G -------------5-| D ---------------| A 0~--2~----2h5--| E --------3------| Chorus part 1 It's really good to hear your voice... G ---------------------------------------| D ----------------5/10-101010-10-5-555-5-| A 5-555-5-0-000-0------------------------| E ---------------------------------------| Comin' from the lips of an angel... G ---------------------------------------| D ----------------10-101010-10-----------| A 5-555-5-0-000-0------------------------| E -----------------------------3-3333333-| Chorus part 2 And I... G -------------------------------| D -------------------------------| A 5-5-5-55h7-0-0-0-0-2--2-2------| E --------------------------2-3~-| Solo G ------------------------------------------| D ------------------------------------------| A ---------33333333-5555555555555555--------| X 3 E 22222222----------------------------------| G ------------------------------------| D ------------------------------------| A ---------33333333-------------------| E 22222222----------3333333333333333~-| The low G's are played in whatever picking style you chose earlier for the lead in to part 2 of the chorus. Again, with everything going on in this song it's difficult to pick out the bass. The above will sound just fine as it follows the rhythm guitar for the most part. But it is most likely not 100% correct. Feel free to add some variation. Below is a sample. G ------------------------------------------| D ------------------------------------------| A ---------33333333-5555555555555555--------| X 2 E 22222222----------------------------------| G ------------------------9h11-----9h11----9h11-| D ------------------5-4-5------4-5------4h5-----| A ---------33333333-----------------------------| E 22222222--------------------------------------| G ------------------------------------| D ------------------------------------| A ---------33333333-------------------| E 22222222----------3333333333333333~-| The above is a variation where you mimic the hammer ons in the solo that start at 03:03 and end at 03:06. They're very distinct, so if the tab seems off just listen to the song and you can clearly hear them. Bass enters again at 03:21 on the word "lips." G ---------------------------------------| D ----------------10-101010-10-----------| A*5-555-5-0-000-0------------------------| E -----------------------------3-3333333-| *I like to slide into the A5 when the bass comes back in, but that's optional. And I... G -------------------------------| D -------------------------------| A 5-5-5-55h7-0-0-0-0-2--2-2------| E --------------------------2-3~-| This part plays once more and is the last that the bass plays, so feel free to add whatever flavor you like to it, like playing in double time. G -------------------------------| D -------------------------------| A 5-5-5-55h7-0-0-0-0-2--2-2------| E --------------------------2-3~-| This tab's difficulty comes in actually hearing the bass. You'll most likely be every instrument EXCEPT for the bass if you're trying to play along with the recording, since so difficult to pick out at times. Remember, if you're learning this in the first place are most likely going to cover it, so add your own touches to account for any parts that seem wrong.
