Your Birthday Song

Go Radio

Text File

Hey Go Radio fans! This is "Birthday Song" as I figure it. I know there are other versions that work, but I prefer this structure. To figure it out, I listened to the bass line in the guitar that starts each little chord arpeggio. C: (x32010) v[This is more convenient] G: (320001) G*: (355433) G**:(x20001) Am:(002210) Am*:(577555) ^[Use G* if you don't like this where I put it.] Em:(022000) ^[Gives the leading tone in the right octave. Same for G**] F: (133211) C G Am Em He was sitting on the back porch singing, "You're My Only Sunshine" F G* C Swinging to songs only he heard in his head C G Am Em Now he's cutting paper swords from boxes to hang inside his room F G* C And watch them spin into the wind above his bed C G Am Em Singing "Take me down this road I'm on F G* C It's late and I don't wanna go alone. C G Am Take me down this road Em F G* C I won't be scared, 'cause we can't be scared." C G Am And I'm searching for a sign that you're still here Em F G* C And I'm alright but now I'm down here on the ground I think I'll pray C G Am Em 'Cause Tallahassee's fine but, Dad, I miss you all the time F G* And I know you're gone, but not too long Am* G** And I hope you fucking love your birthday song C G Am Em If you'll take me down this road I'm on F G* C It's late and I don't wanna go alone.
