Royal by Deftones ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Royal - Deftones ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tabbed by: Matt Maisel Email: Rark0097@hotmail.com Tuning: Drop-c (C-G-C-F-A-D) Main Riff is like this... Listen to the song for strumming patterns and timing. D|---------0-----------------0-----------------0-----------------| A|---------0-----------------0-----------------0-----------------| F|---------0-----------------0-----------------0-----------------| C|-2---2-2-2-----2---2---2-2-2-----2---2---2-2-2-----8---5--7----| G|-2---2-2-2-----2---2---2-2-2-----2---2---2-2-2-----8---5--7----| C|-3p2-2-2-2-----3p2-3p2-2-2-2-----3p2-3p2-2-2-2-----8---5--7----| Next Riff you'll hear is like this... Again, listen to the song for strumming patterns and timing. D|------------------------------------------------------------------| A|------------------------------------------------------------------| F|------------------------------------------------------------------| C|-7-7-7-7--7-7-7-7--7-7-7-7--7-7-7-7--8-8-8-8---5-5-5-5-5-5-5-5----| G|-7-7-7-7--7-7-7-7--7-7-7-7--7-7-7-7--8-8-8-8---5-5-5-5-5-5-5-5----| C|-7-7-7-7--7-7-7-7--7-7-7-7--7-7-7-7--8-8-8-8---5-5-5-5-5-5-5-5----| And then what I'll call the chorus is like this... Again, listen to the song. D|-----------------------------------------------------| A|-----------------------------------------------------| F|-----------------------------------------------------| C|-10-10-10-10--7-7-7-7----10-10-10-10--12-12-12-12----| G|-10-10-10-10--7-7-7-7----10-10-10-10--12-12-12-12----| C|-10-10-10-10--7-7-7-7----10-10-10-10--12-12-12-12----| Every other riff you hear in the song, except for the part where you hear Stephen's version of a solo, being the bending of one note followed by a bend release, is just a variation of one of the above noted riffs. The timing on this song in particular can be tricky without listening to the song and either playing along or knowing exactly how it sounds, and how Stephen strums pattern. Also keep in mind that these are just basic figures on what notes to play in what order. You will have to listen to the song on your own to determine strumming patterns as well as timing, and number of time each chord is played. All in all, this is one of my favorite songs on the Diamond Eyes album, which at this point in time has just been released. I searched around for hours to try and find a tab only to find to my dismay that the only tab that existed was a Guitar Pro Tab. Seeing as how I have no interest in purchasing this software, I decided to write up my own tab for it, so that others who are frustrated in trying to find a tab for this song can rest easy knowing that someone was willing to sit down and show you how. Cheers everyone. ************************************ | / slide up | \ slide down | h hammer-on | p pull-off | ~ vibrato | + harmonic | x Mute note | b Bend | pb Pre-bend | br Bend release | pbr Pre-bend release | brb Bend release bend ************************************ www.TAB6.com
