F G C There's so much that we don't understand G Am Am7 So I told them of Moses and Father Abraham F G C And then I said, Dear children watch the lamb Am Am7 F Am For there will be so many in Jerusalem today Am7 F G We must be sure the Lamb doesn't run away C G Am Am7 And I told them of Moses and Father Abraham F G C Then I said, Dear children watch the Lamb G Am Am7 When we reached the city I knew something must be wrong F G C There were no joyful worshippers no joyful worship songs G Am Am7 I stood there with my children in the midst of angry men F Am And then I heard the crowd cry out, G Crucify him Am Am7 F We tried to reach the city, but we could not get away Am Am7 F Am Forced to play in this drama, a part I did not wish to play G Why upon this day were men condemned to die? Am Am7 G F Why were we standing here where soon they would pass by? C G Am Am7 I looked and said, even now they come F G C The first one cried for mercy, the people gave him none G Am Am7 The second one was violent, he was arrogant and loud F G C I still can hear his angry voice screaming at the crowd Am Am7 F Then someone said there's Jesus and I scarce believed my eyes F Am A man so badly beaten he barely looked alive Blood poured from his body from the thorns upon his brow running down the cross and falling to the ground G Am Am7 I watched him as he struggled I watched him as he fell F G C The cross came down upon his back, the crowd began to yell G Am Am7 In that moment I felt such agony, in that moment i felt such loss F G C Am G Until a Roman soldier grabbed my arm and screamed, You, carry his cross! Am Am7 F At first I tried to resist him then his hand reached for his sword Am Am7 F And so I knelt and took the cross from the Lord G C G Placed it on my shoulder and started down the street Am Am7 F The blood that he'd been shedding was running down my cheek C G Am Am7 They led us to Golgotha they drove nails deep in his feet and hands F G C And yet upon the cross I heard him pray, "Father forgive them" C G Am Am7 Oh, never have I seen such love in any other eyes F G C Into thy hands I commit my spirit he prayed and then he died Am Am7 F I stood for what seemed like years I'd lost all sense of time Am F Am7 Until I felt two tiny hands holding tight to mine C G My children stood there weeping, I heard the oldest say F G C Father please forgive us the Lamb ran away G Am Am7 Daddy, daddy, what have we seen here?
